Central Council of the Midlands

The Central Council of the Midlands was the ruling body of all the Midlands from Aydindril. The First Chair was always held by the Mother Confessor, who by ruling the Central Council, effectively ruled the Midlands.

The Council was made up by Councilors, appointed by the rulers of their lands, of the most powerful countries in the Midlands. The Mother Confessor represented the lesser nations and made sure that their rights were not being infringed in favor of higher ranking lands.

The entire Central Council were killed by Richard Rahl, because of their corruption and crimes against the Mother Confessor, Kahlan Amnell, who they ordered, unsuccessfully, executed.

Together with Kahlan, Richard assumed control of the Midlands, dissolved the alliance between the lands and absorbed the countries, who willingly joined to oppose the Imperial Order, into the D'Haran Empire.
