George Cypher

George Cypher was the step-father to Richard Rahl having married Richard's mother. Richard grew up thinking that George was actually his real father.

George Cypher has played a key role in setting up events for the man that he'd call his son, Richard Rahl. George would come to marry Richard's mother after Richard had been born.

Shortly thereafter, he and then Prelate, Annalina Aldurren was able to find a way into the Wizard's Keep and stole the book, the Book of Counted Shadows. George would take this book back with him to Westland, where he would have Richard memorize the book. Afterwards, the book would then been destroyed.

Years later, George would be murdered by Darken Rahl as he searched for the Book of Counted Shadows. His murder would lead him to Richard, without the knowledge that Richard was actually Darken's son and heir to D'Hara.

George would never appear in the books as a living character, but he was mentioned at the start of the series. He had been murdered by Darken Rahl just before the first chapter of Wizard's First Rule. Richard was out searching for clues about his murder when the book begins.
