Gunther was a bounty hunter from the Midlands who attempted to collect on the bounty placed on the head of Richard Cypher by Darken Rahl. He was the second bounty hunter to buy an enchanted map from the mapmaker Sebastian. He was the second one Richard, Kahlan Amnell, and Zedd came across, and the first one they caught. Zedd took the map they got from the first bounty hunter and the one they got from Gunther and tracked it back tho the man who made it.
