The murder of George Cypher took place in 40 ACB at his home. Cypher was murdered by Darken Rahl, who had discovered he was involved in the disappearance of the Book of Counted Shadows. Using his talent for anthropomacy, Rahl disembowled Cypher and attempted to read the whereabouts of the book from his still living entrails.

- In Legend of the Seeker the murder of George Cypher occurs significantly differently from what is described in the Sword of Truth series. Rather than Rahl being behind Cypher's murder, it is the new character of Ranssyn Fane who does the deed.
