A witch woman was a powerfully gifted woman, rarer than wizards and sorceresses. Witches were known for their ability to ensnare the minds of those they encountered, and for their unusual affinity to the magic of visions and prophecy.

Little was known about witch women, however, it was known that part of their ability was that they could see events in the flow of time. Witch women couldn't always call upon this part of their gift at random, however, it could be a spontaneous occurrence. It was said that using this part of their ability came at a cost for witch women. Witches often had visions of the future of their daughters.
Due to the fact that a witch woman rode the eddies of time, they were aware of the magic a gifted individual was to use against them, prior to doing so. The witch was therefore able to prevent their opponent from making the necessary connection to ignite their power. However, there were techniques that could overcome a witch womans ability to use this aspect of their gift effectively.
A key aspect of all witch women was that they could not help bewitching. It was part of who they were, their very gift. A witch woman sub-consciously bewitched people who set eyes upon them. A person under such an enchantment was a witch womans to command, however, such a spell could be broken. This was why witch women had a deep hatred of Confessors. A Confessors power was final, where a witches was not.
The gift was different in different individuals, however it was said that it was best not to get on the bad side of a witch, as they were notoriously dangerous. The seventh child of a witch was special to her, for an unknown reason.

Much of the history of witch women are unknown. This is mostly because they are a reclusive type of people. Wizards and Sorceresses alike fear her, much due to her powers. It is never proven but is highly likely that witch women produce offspring the same way most Confessors do, by bewitching men.
